For nearly a decade, I’ve worked in outpatient therapy settings providing mental health treatment to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia.
Much of my work focuses on healing from a traumatic experience using the evidence-based practice of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I have completed training/supervision in Cognitive Processing Therapy and can be found on the CPT Provider Roster at www.CPTforPTSD.com. I also have training in other theoretical approaches, such as TEAM CBT, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Weight Loss and Maintenance and CBT-I Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, Choice Theory/Reality Therapy Advanced Training, Emotionally-Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Prepare/Enrich Premarital/Marriage Enrichment Therapy, and Mindfulness. I make every effort to provide highly effective services by collaborating with you to individualize your treatment.
Treatment is provided in a telehealth setting through a secure platform designed specifically for HIPPA compliant therapy services. In the past, I thought I would always provide therapy in person in my office. However, as an essential worker during the COVID-19 pandemic, the only option to provide treatment was via telehealth. Through that experience I learned that telehealth is very effective and provides an opportunity for people to get much-needed therapy even when they cannot come into the office.
The COVID-19 pandemic has demanded that we learn to navigate change and adjust to a new normal again and again. I started this telehealth counseling service to help meet the needs of so many who are dealing with trauma, depression, and anxiety while also adjusting to and recovering from the fallout of a worldwide pandemic. I make every effort to ensure your telehealth session is as personal and connected as if you were sitting on my couch and I were just across the room.
